Sad state of affairs

THE big achievement of Micheál Martin has been the demise of his own department, the Department of Foreign Affairs.

This function has now been taken over by the EU. Ireland no longer has a distinctive voice on the world stage.

The department should now be wound up. It’s lifeboat, Irish Aid, should be transferred to another department.
