Operation Transformation hopeful weighs in on contestant selection process

I WOULD just like to put my point across on Operation Transformation.

I was one of the 23 contestants who was in Santry last Thursday week.

The point I want to make is that it’s not a show about obese people. Before I start I just want to express that I am delighted for the five contestants and I’m not bitter about not having been chosen. The day in Santry was a great day and there were fantastic people who all had a story to tell.

As I looked around at the other contestants, myself and another contestant just made a comment that there were six to seven people there who we thought didn’t have much of a weight problem. But everyone of them were brilliant and I mean that. After the day was over I picked seven contestants who I thought deserved to make it.

As you know during the past week, five contestants were chosen every morning on the John Murray show. I was absolutely gobsmacked when they had chosen the final five. As I said, there were five or six morbidly obese people up there and only one was chosen.

Four out of the five yet again were women so I ask myself why bring 8-9 men up to Dublin when they knew all this.

Having spoken to a number of contestants who didn’t make the last five, they were outraged too with the final decisions.

No one over 20 stone was on the show, so what is the aim of the show? I felt that one of the finalists actually has very little weight to lose compared to other people. To be honest except for one, the other four contestants had not much weight to lose.

I would just like to say that if you are thinking of applying next year for Operation Transformation just remember it’s not what you weigh it’s all about what story you can tell.

I am speaking for quite a few people here.
