Christianity is based on love not killing

WHO is Sen O’Toole to tell God to move over, (Irish Examiner, Dec 18) “to butt out of state affairs“, so that he the other politicians could decriminalise the killing of the unborn at the stroke of a pen?

Christianity is based on love not killing

Long before the “white hat in the Vatican” or the “red hat in the Armagh” were heard of, and long before Dublin or Rome were on the map, the killing of the unborn was a despicable crime. God said to man “Thou shalt not kill” and there were no ifs or buts attached. No human legislator or state has the authority to change that. Civil legislation as envisioned by Sen O’Toole would be totally invalid as those legislators would have exceeded their man-given authority, and assumed the roll of gods.

The senator would like the “Church to .. show some Christian humanity.” Has he never heard that Christianity is based on love, not slaughter. What kind of ambivalence would his kind of “Christian humanity” bring about? I pray that Santa Claus will fill the senator’s sock and heart with the caring love which the coming feast represents and encourages.
