HAVING spent four happy years in Ireland, I have just moved back to my native Germany.

I had no realistic, sensible choice at this point but to leave.

I always found the Irish people overall to be friendly, likeable and welcoming. However, Ireland is in a terrible mess with rising unemployment, whereas in Germany and France they have managed the crisis far better and things have already improved.
