Rolling back the years

I’M horrified at the introduction by Mary Harney of charges on medical card patients.

Rolling back the years

After all, the card is to ensure free medicine, but we have a health minister with no right to be in government rolling back years of social change fought for by those who went before us.

While the charge now is only 50c per item, I’m certain it will be €1 in a year and more after that. What’s next? Inpatients having to put 50c in a meter to go to their bathroom or 75c for a bedpan? It’s time for French-style protests here to put an end to one law for the rich and another for the poor.
