Call to patriotic duty

WE have an awful lot of talk every day from the broadcasting stars in RTÉ – Marian Finucane, Pat Kenny, Ryan Tubrity and Joe Duffy – on how we might get the country out of the mess it is in.

They are all paid enormous salaries from the public purse. Is that right?

Imagine if they were to lead the way in the public sector by taking a salary of ‘only’ €150,000 a year.

That would be a patriotic stance.
