No consensus

YOU have been supporting editorially John Gormley’s suggestion of a national consensus.

Gormley and his party colleague Eamon Ryan have rubbished opposition proposals over the past three years and have propped up the same people, including Brian Lenihan, who destroyed the economy.

If Gormley was serious about the national interest, then his party would have pulled out of government some time ago and allowed the people to choose a new government. You cannot blame the opposition for not coming to the table. Gormley wishes to preserve his ministerial position, otherwise he would be calling for a national government in which he would have no role.
