Mass boycott an affront to our ancestors

WHAT an affront to use the mass, the awesome moment when Christ becomes truly present on our altars, as a battleground and a weapon to impose one’s will on his church.

Mass boycott an affront to our ancestors

What an insult to the memory of the many thousands of priests and people, our ancestors, who risked their lives during penal times to get to mass at a mass rock.

The love, strength and mercy we receive from attending mass was summed up by St Padre Pio who said: “We could survive better without oxygen than without the mass.”

The teaching of the Catholic Church reminds us it is a mortal sin deliberately to miss mass on Sundays and those who do risk the loss of heaven.

To incite other Catholics to do likewise is a grave and serious matter.

Jennifer Sleeman’s call to boycott Mass on September 26 is a call to rebellion against Christ and his church.
