Offensive and nasty attack on dutiful clergy
She began by telling us she was getting married that day.
All very nice and everyone wishes her well, but maybe she got writer’s block.
She launched into an anti-Catholic diatribe, saying the Murphy report was about the awful abuse of children in religious institutions.
As a journalist, Ms McCarthy should have known it was the Ryan report that dealt with this issue.
Ms McCarthy tells us she might as well get married by Skeletor from Castle Grayskull and then adds that “maybe the Whirligig Witch is free to perform the ceremony”. Is she comparing the vast majority of Catholic priests who serve their people well to those evil creatures of fiction – or is she trying to use innocent men as a target for her sick humour
She says she got a letter from the church acknowledging her defection and, bizarrely, she concludes “PS... burn in hell, you atheist whore. I made that part up.” Is that the best she can do? Does she have to be so offensive and nasty. What did she gain from such a spiteful piece?
I think she owes readers an apology.
