Griffith and royalty

IT is true that the founder of Sinn Féin, Arthur Griffith, proposed the idea of a dual monarchy for Ireland (‘SF and monarchy’, Letters, June 29).

However, it is also true that few of his colleagues took the idea very seriously and gave Griffith the derisory nickname ‘Kings, Lords and Commons’ because of his proposal.
