State throwing pearls before swine

I FULLY agree with your editorial headlined ‘Privatisation admits defeat’ (July 5). To privatise our semi-state companies would be to raise the flag of surrender to market forces.

The Government is scraping the bottom of the budgetary barrel to try to balance the nation’s account books.

Why are they setting up another quango to take an inventory of their semi-state assets? Is it to make the charade respectable? Are they looking for more scapegoats to take the blame for fiscal treason?
