Time for the truth

JUST a comment on Batt O Keeffe’s work in progress (Irish Examiner, June 23) ... fixing the banking system, restoring order to the public finances, regaining competitiveness and creating jobs. He talks about investing €40bn over the next six years on labour intensive infrastructure.

Where is this €40bn, plus a possible €80bn (NAMA and banking deficit), to come from?

People need to accentuate the positive but it’s time to stop living in fairyland. The future is not one of spending but a prolonged period mired in a web of taxation. It really is time for the truth.
