Waterford Glass - A tradition restored
Though production is on a small scale it is an act of defiance and optimism that deserves to succeed.
It would have been unthinkable that the great glass blowing and cutting skills, as well as the artistry built up over centuries, should have disappeared when the parent plant finally closed last year.
The project, which is fully supported by Waterford Wedgwood, will employ 79 full-time and 33 part-time staff, with up to 40 temporary staff during peak season.
Projects like this will play a central role in rebuilding our economy and we should support them if we can.
