Not forgiven

YOUR financial columnist Bill Hobbs (June 7) tells us the Government-appointed financial regulator Matthew Elderfield, NAMA chairman Frank Daly and Justice Minister Dermot Ahern have “ruled out debt forgiveness for ordinary people”.

Not forgiven

They justified this by saying “good” people who didn’t over-borrow will not want to bail out the “bad” people who did.

Why then are the good people of this country being asked by the Government to bail out the banks who over-lent and over-borrowed on a grand scale?
