AN RTÉ commentator on the main evening TV news (June 9) said it was a masterstroke that the Government got away with not allowing the Dáil discuss the banking reports.

Is this not a democracy? What is the Dáil for if not to provide a forum to discuss reports that deal with issues which are going to cost all the people of this country dearly?

If the Dáil can be shut down because the Government does not want to answer questions about the banking collapse the lesson to be learned is the banks were right in thinking arrogance will get you everywhere and integrity is for losers.
