Anti-semitism charge was outrageous

FOR Patrick Geaney (Letters, June 3) to accuse Foreign Minister Micheál Martin of anti-semitism is outrageous. As Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Martin has had to deal with Israeli forgery of Irish passports for the purposes of murder, putting all travelling Irish citizens at risk.

Anti-semitism charge was outrageous

He has also visited Gaza and seen the deprivation caused there by the Israeli blockade and the aftermath of the bombing and killing of hundreds of civilians – many of them children – by Israeli armed forces in recent times.

Now Minister Martin is faced with the fallout from the abduction of Irish citizens on an unarmed ship in international waters.

What would Mr Geaney have him say to these events? “Oh dear, please don’t do this again”? The minister has been very restrained, possibly too restrained. But to see Mr Geaney play the “anti-semitic” card is disgusting.
