Praise for librarians

MANY of the letters you publish contain diatribes against state and other services to humanity and few to honour the good.

How about a word of praise for the seldom mentioned library services?

To visit my local branch in Mayfield, Cork, is a really pleasurable experience. The librarians are invariably cheerful, pleasant and helpful and when I asked how this happy state of affairs comes about, the answer was “because we all love our job”. Noteworthy?
