I WISH to commend you on your excellent editorial headlined ‘Fishery reopened – A Disgraceful Concession’ (May 26).

‘Sustainable yield’ theory has a fishy ring to it

In response, Aidan Barry of the South West Regional Fisheries Board states (Letters, May 29) that all major rivers in the south-west have surplus stocks of salmon.

An opinion based on a theory of so-called “maximum sustainable yield”, which a very questionable and eager concept.
