Has media-loving Mary something big in mind?

FOLLOWING Mary O’Rourke’s nauseating interview on the Late Late Show last Friday night, I wonder if this is her first testing of the waters for the presidency.

While she did say it would not suit her “style”, neither did she rule it out.

Her Tom Hanks approach in which she can mock even a serious interviewer and be sarcastic, ridiculous and cutting as the occasion demands leads one to believe she is being wheeled out by her party in times of crisis to battle for the absurd or perhaps with a bigger goal in mind.

She can, for instance, agree with Ryan Tubridy that her party made a mess of things (isn’t it awful?) and also raise a guffaw from some of the audience in her put-down of the Fine Gael leader.

On the following Saturday morning she was on Newstalk and on Sunday she was on Today FM. Those were just the programmes I happened to see and hear. Maybe there were more. How does she get around to them all?

One has to remember of course that her late brother, Brian Lenihan, kicked off his presidential campaign on the Late Late Show when anecdotes were told about a garda being asked if he wanted a pint or a transfer.

Between herself and Joe Coleman’s antics with Satan my head was spun after the ‘Lite Lite Show’ last Friday, and I was assaulted again with more of the same on Saturday and Sunday.

Give us a break, Mary, for God’s sake.
