It’s the politicians who have ‘crossed the line’

JUSTICE Minister Dermot Ahern says the speech Michael O’Boyce didn’t deliver at the Garda Representative Association (GRA) annual conference last Tuesday crossed the democratic line– yet conference delegates gave O’Boyce a standing ovation.

It’s the politicians who have ‘crossed the line’

Surely the minister should stop and think – a body like the GRA would never cross the line unless it felt it had been betrayed. Mr O’Boyce was not just expressing the feelings of his organisation, but those of the whole country. We have been betrayed by our politicians, and especially those who have been in power for the past 10 years. It is they who have crossed the line and have brought democracy in this country to an all-time low. Their close association with bankers and developers is responsible for hundreds of thousands of ordinary, decent people in this country ~being out of work today.

It is they who are responsible for the unbearable pressure people are under to keep up their mortgage payments for overpriced houses while take-home pay dwindles and the cost of petrol soars.
