Three ‘wise women’ aid destruction of church

IN recent weeks we have been fed the musings, thoughts, opinions and recommendations of, dare I say, three wise women — Lisa Miller, Newsweek’s religion editor (April 8);, Ann Woolner, Bloomberg columinist (April 12) and Fiona Ehlers’ major article of April 17.

Three ‘wise women’ aid destruction of church

What these women believe in or practice is not quite clear.

For all one knows they could be dedicated Scientologists. Why you give them such ample space while not alternatively publishing the realistic Catholic viewpoint is disturbing.

Do their findings amount to a hill of beans? Apart from the never ending mantra concerning “celibacy and women priests” their joint diatribe has really little serious depth to offer.

The quoted comments from the Kung school of dissident clerics who always know better, but who never actually come to terms with their own credibility, are also the usual media points.

By now, however, every practising Catholic is more than aware of how badly the Irish hierarchy have behaved over the past few decades, so do we really need these vanguard women and their orchestrated views in order to help us destroy our own church?

Surely the ultra-secular HSE throwing statues out of our hospitals is already doing its “government best” to get rid of Catholicism from the Irish scene in every way it can.

What makes the Irish Examiner join the fray in hosting such articles and what makes the Irish people think of destroying their own church rather than dealing with the individuals who have served it so badly is what makes us the sad and pathetic people we have become.
