Sign language

THE question of bilingual signage was raised by Padraic Killeen (April 13).

The public visibility of Irish is an important means of affirming its status.

However, I agree with your columnist that the language used should be creative and appropriate.

Regarding his comments on the sign directed at dog-owners, I think that a simple ‘Mo náire tú’ should evoke the appropriate response from an embarrassed dog-owner.
