In a word

IN his letter (April 14), Raymond Lloyd supposedly corrects me by suggesting Tomás MacCurtain was murdered, not executed.

In a word

I wrote (March 24) that MacCurtain was killed by the police in front of his family and that this was partly in retaliation for the Squad killing Det Sgt Patrick Smyth. Smyth was shot while talking to his young son in front of his home. The word “executed” was a figment of Mr Lloyd’s imagination, and any innuendo was all his own.
