The Little Fighters - Let’s all wish them well
The parents of the conjoined twins, Angie and Azzedine Benhaffaf, said yesterday that their baby sons had won the “battle of their lives” after they were successfully separated.
Like so many other Irish children, they owe a debt to the surgeons and the gifted team at Great Ormond Street Hospital, in London. About 20 staff, including four anaesthetists and four surgeons, contributed to the complex procedure. They and the babies’ parents represent much that is good and admirable about the human spirit. When faced with a life-threatening and emotionally devastating challenge they showed the power of love.
