Radio station denies it is abandoning town

I WISH to correct inaccuracies in your article headlined ‘Bandon rises to the challenge’ (March 23).

She writes: “In a further vote of no confidence in the town, radio station County Sound shut its Bandon headquarters.”

C103 — it hasn’t been known as County Sound for many years — has not shut its Bandon headquarters. Our offices and studios there are temporarily closed awaiting refurbishment after the extensive damage they suffered during the flooding. This is by no means a “vote of no confidence” in Bandon.

We fully intend to continue having a presence in the town despite the threat of future flooding.

In the meantime, the service we provide to the people of Bandon and west Cork has not suffered.

We have every confidence in the town which continues to be an essential part of our transmission area.
