Victim of loony law

REGARDING the Trevor Sargent affair, your columnist Ryle Dwyer (February 27) justifies hounding him by referring to a fictitious attempt decades ago to bribe and threaten a garda in an attempt to avoid prosecution, which quite rightly would be illegal in all countries.

This is quite a different matter from making a representation to present an opinion and information which is illegal only under our own loony laws.
