WE’RE all sick of the state of the country at the moment. There’s been nonstop talk of paycuts, how we need to move forward, pull together and share the pain.

Growing pains

Maybe we need to look back to our last recession to find inspiration on how to have a good old fashioned laugh when things around us aren’t great. When Sharon Curley was taken advantage of by George Burgess back in the late ’80’s it provided us with a classic comedy. Sharon’s daughter, Georgina, probably in her early 20s, now must be feeling the strain of being one of the many teens during the boom years now finding it hard to accept the reverse in fortunes. Maybe Roddy Doyle could let us know how things worked out?
