THE issue of holding an inquiry behind closed doors into how the Government, banks, and developers nearly bankrupted the country seems to have ceased to be a subject of public discussion.

The inquiry proposed by the Government seems designed to hide from the vulgar gaze of the peasants what the lords and masters were up to. The message seems to be that the peasants may have to pay the bill but they will not be allowed to find out how the lords and masters nearly bankrupted the country.
