Abortion headline did not tell full story

THE first article (January 21) outlining the results of the Irish Examiner/Red C poll on Irish sexual habits mentioned that the follow-up article, among other things, would “open up the abortion debate”.

Abortion headline did not tell full story

If this is truly your intention, I hope your headlines will more accurately reflect the content of the news report than was the case with the front page headline of January 21, which read: ‘Survey: 60% in favour of legal abortion.’

Since the survey itself showed this covered 18-35 year olds only, can the headline, in the scheme of lies and damned lies, be classified as a mere statistic?
