Cóir — where it began

IN his letter (January 11) concerning the bishops and Cóir, Barry Walsh makes at least two errors that must be corrected.

Cóir — where it began

Firstly, it was not Youth Defence but the ‘No to Nice Campaign’ founded by the Christian Solidarity Party, with members of several other organisations, that was the forerunner of Cóir.

Secondly, his assertion that Cóir members are vocal supporters of the Catholic hierarchy shows a glaring ignorance of recent events in the Lisbon Treaty debate. When Cóir pointed out that passing the Lisbon Treaty could lead to abortion, some bishops spared no time in attacking it.
