ALTHOUGH I enjoy reading your columnist Seán Moncrieff, I would like to take him to task for stating (December 24) that there are only two historical references to Jesus outside of the gospels.

I assume he is talking about Tacitus, a well-known Roman historian, and Josephus Flavius, a Jewish general. Perhaps he would like to research Pliny the Younger, Roman governor Suetonius, Mara Bar-Serapion, and maybe more. Instead of “going back to the telly” he might find more interesting facts researching the history of the bible.
