THE INO deputy general secretary, David Hughes (Letters, December 14) falsely accuses both the government and the media of “undermining and demonising” the public sector.

Public sector union leaders are living in a bubble

If anything is “damaging the respect and esteem” in which they are held, it is precisely the fanatical activities and attitudes of public sector unions such as his own at a time of grave national crisis.

Does he think for a moment that a government which has spent the past 10 years recklessly handing out goodies to all, including the public sector, has any choice but to take them back because they cannot be sustained?
