High price to be paid for a small saving

ONCE again (for the third time in a year, I think) the Minister for Finance has cut our overseas aid – this time by €25 million.

In itself and as a percentage of our overall overseas aid, this is a relatively small amount. The saving achieved is so small it will be of very little help to our economy.

This is a mean and small-minded cut.

The minister must bear the responsibility for a decision that will result in even more people in poor countries dying.

Is this just another one of those very difficult decisions the minister likes to talk about? Shame.
