Rank ingratitude

WE expect the gardaí to be there for us whenever we or our properties are under threat, yet when their livelihood is under threat and their members fear losing their homes or being unable to provide for their families, we tell them they will face jail and fines if they protest. I wonder why they feel unappreciated and undervalued?
