Airline not telling tall tales on card bookings

YOUR article headlined ‘Ryanair and the tall tale of the Visa Electron card’ (December 1) wrongly accused Michael O’Leary of telling lies and wrongly claimed that Visa Electron cards are not available to Irish consumers.

Airline not telling tall tales on card bookings

Visa Electron is, and has always been, available to all Irish consumers via the internet.

The suggestion that Ryanair lied to Irish passengers over their ability to obtain Visa Electron, simply because it is no longer offered by Irish banks, is completely wrong.

If we apply this internet phobia logic to the sale of all exclusively online goods and services, then Ryanair’s guaranteed lowest airfares, which are available exclusively through www.ryanair.com, must not be available in Ireland either.

Given the damage the €10 travel tax is inflicting on Irish travel and tourism, that may soon be true.
