I MUST commend the recent efforts by army personnel and all those who stood in such nasty weather to ensure the people of Cork city got clean water.

However, the students who removed sandbags during Christmas celebrations from doorways of businesses that had already lost a small fortune after the previous flooding should hang their heads in shame.

Better still, they should be charged with wilful destruction of property.
