‘Regulated by’ ... funny if it wasn’t so serious

HAVING observed the lack of regulations during the Celtic Tiger years it still makes me laugh, even today, every time I hear the term “regulated by the financial regulator” after one of our financial institutions’ adverts on radio or TV.

‘Regulated by’ ... funny if it wasn’t so serious

A similar lack of regulation seems to have applied to An Bord Pleanála during this period to ensure nothing got in the way of the “Tiger” economy.

After the large amounts of rainfall lately, the people in the flooded regions were not laughing. Homes and businesses were flooded. Farmers watched hundreds of acres turning into lakes with nowhere to put their livestock ... and it is not all to do with climate change as many would have us believe. It is difficult not to be angry as one watches people paying the price for the incompetence of others and the greed of those who knew what they were doing was wrong.
