Saving water

I HAVE written before on the subject of flooding, but in view of the recent deluge in Cork city surely it is time to make provision for water barrels at downpipes on houses everywhere.

I suggested recycled barrels should be offered at a discount by the city council following the example of compost bins years ago.

If these barrels were in place there would be far less of the problem faced lately by residents on the northside. Water for flushing toilets or boiled for washing-up and cooking would be readily available, freeing up the water from tankers for drinking only.
