TODAY’S public sector strike will undoubtedly feature the blame game. “We didn’t cause the fire” will be the mantra. It’s hard to blame the protesters ... they are generally worried for themselves and their families while our politicians continue to throw largesse at bankers and at themselves.

Surely at this stage the key word is “patriotism”. There is no patriotism in taking €99,000 (another receiving €3,000 per meeting) for acting as public interest bank directors.

The people are crying out for leadership, for heroes, and what do they get? They get the most incompetent and self-serving in charge. There really is no hope.
