Experts in hindsight

AMID the economic doom and gloom I could not help wondering about sectors of our society that are actually benefiting – even thriving – in the current economic climate. What I have noticed is the number of economic experts/forecasters/commentators who have been taking up pages in the press and a lot of airtime on TV and radio.

They offer advice on what they see as the way out of the situation. Initially I did not begrudge them as I thought we need them now more than ever to guide us, so their earnings were justified.

Then I became angry. These people are now earning large salaries advising us as to how to get out of a situation that most of them didn’t warn us about, or see us getting into, in the first place. Now there is a piece of opportunism in recessionary times.
