IN his letter (November 10), Michael Gleeson laments the possible loss of religious symbols from classrooms.

He then jumps light years to a rant about morality. There is no connection between the two.

Followers of the cross have no monopoly on morality. Morality is best taught in a secular setting. Children should be taught to be good for the sake of being good and not for the selfish reasons taught by Christianity. An atheist committing a selfless act does so for no expected reward.
