Bishop’s hate mail - Shameful attacks

CHURCH of Ireland Bishop of Cork, Paul Colton has reported that he has received anonymous, sectarian letters related to the campaign on funding for Protestant secondary schools.

Bishop Colton described, on Twitter, how he received some “off-the-wall” and “vitriolic” letters. That he declined to comment further yesterday indicates the sensitivity and ugliness involved.

It is almost as sad as it is shameful that any religious leader should be open to such abuse for doing no more than trying to protect the interests of his congregation.

How sad it is that there are Irish people still so hateful and out of touch with the society we live in.
