Waste of money

REGARDING the publication of official documents in Irish, these are conceived and written in English, so there is nothing to be gained from translating them into Irish, unlike literary works written in Irish, which lose something in translation.

Irish is practised mainly as a spoken language, and while there are people who speak Irish better than English, I would guess there is no one who reads Irish better than they read English. Publishing official documents in Irish is a waste of money and does nothing to promote use of the language. This money could be better spent on classes, an Irish course CD and books, all for free.
