Cowen should distance himself from McGrath
We ask Taoiseach Brian Cowen to show leadership and dissociate himself from Mr McGrath’s comments in the Irish Examiner (October 27).
We need the Taoiseach’s categorical assurance that he is fully behind the proposed legislation and that there will be no diminution of penalties. We call on him emphatically to support Transport Minister Noel Dempsey who has indicated he has the moral courage to introduce this lifesaving legislation right away. The public need to know that Fianna Fáil is not in the grip of the vintners and that it is concerned about the welfare of all road-users.
