O’Donoghue’s obscene golden parachute
He has repeatedly demonstrated his most noted service to this state was to live high-on-the-hog at the expense of the poor taxpayer.
His behaviour has been a continuous abuse of the privilege of high office.
It is singularly galling to one such as myself who, having worked and paid taxes for almost 50 years, finds himself on little more than half-pension which I cannot afford to live on.
My mistake, it seems was to be forced to work abroad for 30 years through lack of opportunity in this mismanaged land.
During that time I scrimped and saved to remit money home to my parents so my younger brothers and sisters could stay at school.
Almost 20 years ago I was able to return here to work.
Since then I paid all due taxes.
At 66 years of age I hoped I qualified for a full pension but found that even though I had the requisite number of insurance stamps they were not in the correct sequence.
My total annual income now is less than 3% of that of that of that greedy politicians, yet I believe my service to this state to be of no less worth than that of most members of the Dáil.
