Building a new city - Optimism made real

BUILDING a new city street at any time would be an achievement but in the midst of a crippling recession it represents a spectacular landmark.

Yesterday a flagship project – the €500 million Opera Lane development in Cork – was opened. It not only represents a tremendous renewal project but an impressive vote of confidence in the future.

It comes just weeks after another spectacular commitment to the future – a new Dunnes Stores complex – was opened on a nearby site. And there is more, next month a €100m retail and office block development at Half Moon Street will open.
