Yesterday a flagship project – the €500 million Opera Lane development in Cork – was opened. It not only represents a tremendous renewal project but an impressive vote of confidence in the future.

It comes just weeks after another spectacular commitment to the future – a new Dunnes Stores complex – was opened on a nearby site. And there is more, next month a €100m retail and office block development at Half Moon Street will open.

These are considerable achievements and show what can be realised when established principles of development and financing are observed.
