I READ that students who did not get quite enough points might still be considered for medical school if they later pass some semi-official Australian test but, conversely, might have 600 points and have a doctor for a father but be rejected if they fail it.

Exactly who is behind this foreign medical test that decides whether or not somebody is fit to be an Irish doctor in Ireland?

No other course has such a foreign test inserted to ascertain suitability.
