Talks are better than waiting for blink of an eye

I WELCOME the reassurance given by Paul Connors, HSE director of communications, in his letter headlined ‘HSE assurance on supply of medicines’ (July 22).

I acknowledge it is prudent to draw up contingency plans in the dispute between the HSE and the pharmacists, but I would urge both sides to engage in constructive negotiation rather than being hellbent on seeing who blinks first.

I have a doubt that any contingency plan could work as well as the chemist shops.

I sincerely hope we do not have to test it for very long.
