Judgment withheld

YOUR front page lead story headline (July 20) read ‘373 girls of school going age raped in one year’.

Judgment withheld

I do not believe this sensational heading, using the following definition for rape – “Any act of sexual intercourse that is forced upon a woman”. Senator Fidelma Healy-Eames and Dr Jude Cosgrove of the Educational Research Centre, along with Fiona Neary of The Rape Crisis Network support the findings. According to Ms Healy-Eames, the full details of the research will be published in the autumn.

I await the published findings and I hope it will include specific statements to support your ghastly headline.
