No silver bullet

THE public sector recently received a 7.5% pay cut. The Bord Snip Nua report states that “there is little hard evidence of pay cuts in the private sector”.

An OECD report stated that Ireland’s public sector provides an efficient service for relatively little cost.

While public service workers accept the difficult situation the country is in and are willing to make the necessary changes to improve the services they provide, they will not allow themselves to be unfairly targeted.

Cutting public service pay and conditions is not the silver bullet some people seem to think it is.
